From Bumble to Bride and Groom

We met during Covid on Bumble, both answering the same prompt: Two truths and a lie. I messaged Andrew saying something like, “I hope your truth is that you write in cursive—because me too!” He replied with a photo of his handwriting. Beautiful cursive. Then I guessed his lie and learned that the other truth was that he had a twin. I was right! Though, in full honesty, I initially thought Jesse—his older brother—was the twin from his profile pictures. At the time, I told all my friends I was “just window shopping.” Well… here we are, five years later. We weren’t sure we’d meet at all— I was living in LA, Andrew was in Thousand Oaks, and everything was still closed. But after six weeks of texting and phone calls, we finally decided to go for it. Our first date was on Friday the 13th, right after movie theaters reopened. We saw a horror-comedy called Freaky. I snuck snacks and drinks in my purse for both of us— which I’m pretty sure is when Andrew knew I was the one (wink). After the movie, we went out for doughnuts at Rolling Pin. On the way home, I was so nervous for the kiss I hoped would end the night that I forgot to turn on my headlights. We got pulled over… but luckily, I only got a warning— and the kiss. We’ve been together ever since. We love traveling, our son (cat) Smudge, and making each other laugh. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.

Where to StayOur wedding will be in beautiful Camarillo, a sunny coastal-adjacent town with plenty of comfortable (and air-conditioned!) places to stay. There are lots of hotels within a short drive of the venue—some right by the outlets for easy shopping, others tucked near restaurants and coffee spots we love. You’ll find a mix of cozy inns, familiar chains, and a few hidden-gem Airbnbs, so you can pick whatever fits your style. Just be sure to book early—Camarillo tends to be a popular spot for weekend getaways.

Channel Islands Beach is 18 miles from this Camarillo hotel. An outdoor pool and a gym are available along with rooms that include free Wi-Fi and cable TV with pay-per-view movies. Each room and suite at the Sonesta Select Camarillo are furnished with tea and coffee facilities. Additional amenities include ironing facilities and a hairdryer. The suites feature a refrigerator and microwave. The Sonesta Select Camarillo offers guests an on-site business center and laundry facilities. Breakfast is available at the property's restaurant.
